Junk Mail: What is honorable?
And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise. Philippians 4:8
To think on what is honorable is to focus on what is worthy of respect, dignity, and reverence. In a world where dishonor and disrespect can sometimes be the norm, it’s important to filter the messages we receive through the lens of honor. What we allow into our minds and hearts should reflect the high standards God calls us to live by.
In Philippians 4:8, Paul gives us a beautiful list in this verse of what our thoughts should focus on:
Honorable – Think on things that reflect God’s character.
As you encounter messages today, ask yourself: “Does this honor God? Does it bring respect to His name and to others?” Let’s choose to focus on things that build up, encourage, and uphold honor, both for God and for those around us.
Prayer for today: Lord, help me to fix my thoughts on what is honorable. May my actions and words reflect Your dignity and grace. Keep me mindful of the messages I receive and how they influence my thoughts and behavior. Amen.
