Junk Mail: What is excellent?
And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise. Philippians 4:8
God calls us to focus on what is excellent—those things that reflect His perfection, greatness, and glory. Excellence is not about achieving perfection in every aspect of life, but it is about pursuing the highest standard in all we do. It is about striving for the best, not just what is acceptable or “good enough.” Excellence, as defined by God, reflects His character and invites us to live in a way that honors Him.
In our daily lives, we can pursue excellence by dedicating ourselves to doing everything with our best effort—whether it’s in our work, relationships, or spiritual growth. Excellence reflects our commitment to honoring God in all things and doing them for His glory.
“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters.”
— Colossians 3:23
Prayer for today: Lord, help me to fix my thoughts on what is excellent. May I strive for the highest standard in all I do, reflecting Your greatness and glory in every aspect of my life. Strengthen me to pursue excellence not for my own recognition, but to honor You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
