Junk Mail: Filter The Message
And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise. Philippians 4:8
In a world filled with so many voices, it’s easy to get lost in confusion. Today, we live in an age where misinformation and lies can spread quickly. The goal of junk mail is to divert your attention, waste your time, and sometimes even mislead you into making choices you don’t want to make. We delete it, filter it out, and try to focus on what’s important. Philippians 4:8 encourages us to fix our thoughts on what is true—God’s truth. The truth we find in God’s Word is unchanging, constant, and life-giving. When we filter the messages we receive through God’s truth, we can discern what aligns with His will and what doesn’t.
I encourage you to filter the message for what is true. When you receive a message today—whether it’s from the world, an email, social media, a letter in the mail, or a conversation—pause for a moment to reflect. Does it align with the truth of Scripture? Is it a message grounded in what God says about you, others, or life? If not, set it aside. Just as you wouldn’t let junk mail fill your physical mailbox, you shouldn’t allow destructive or distracting thoughts to fill your mind.
Prayer for today: Lord, thank You for the truth found in Your Word. Help me to recognize the lies and distractions that try to lead me astray. Teach me to fix my thoughts on what is true and to hold fast to the truth that comes from You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
