Jesus the Lamb of God
April 10-11
Jesus the Lamb of God
The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, “Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world! John 1:29
When Jesus was walking the earth, hardly anyone knew the reason why He’d come. But one person, John the Baptist, knew exactly why Jesus had come and what He was going to do. John the Baptist preached:
“In those days John the Baptist came preaching in the wilderness of Judea, and saying, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand!” For this is he who was spoken of by the prophet Isaiah, saying:
“The voice of one crying in the wilderness:
‘Prepare the way of the Lord;
Make His paths straight.’”
(Matthew 3:1-3)
As John proclaimed, Jesus came as “the Lamb of God,” fulfilling His divine calling—Savior of the world. Jesus came to earth to become the sacrificial Lamb that God Himself was offering. Every sin ever committed (in the past or the future) was covered by His sacrificial death on the Cross. The shedding of His blood paid the ultimate price for those who believe and accept Him, Jesus has taken away all sin!
This is why we need to look to Jesus and seek Him as the Lamb of God who already has taken our sin. On Calvary, the sacrifice was made. The work was completed. All we need to do is accept and receive what has been done.
In your life, don’t hold on to sin. Jesus died so that you can be forgiven. Accept His finished work and be forgiven. “There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.” (Romans 8:1)
Prayer for today: Worthy is the name of the One who came to take away the sins of this world – Jesus. I call on the name of Jesus. Hosanna! Come save me now. Jesus, let Your name receive all praise and worship, glory honor and blessing forever. Amen.
