Jesus Our Vine
Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing. John 15:5
Looking past the beautiful blooms or the colorful fruit, wonders can be found in looking at the vine. The vine’s main function is to draw water and nutrients to provide the branches with everything they need to promote growth. This means in order to fulfill its purpose the branch must be connected to the vine so that the branch receives the nutrients needed to promote growth.
The purpose of the branch is to serve as a vehicle through which the vine express itself. Jesus is our vine. Aside from being connected to Him, we are nothing. Through Him, we receive everything we need to be strengthened in the faith. Like a branch which is broken off from the tree, if we are separated from the vine, we too will wither and die. God the Father lifted up Jesus, so that in Him we may live and bear much fruit.
Prayer for today: Heavenly Father, thank You for always being my Source. I crave Your nourishment in my life, without it I am nothing. Please continue to sustain me in this life and produce in me fruit that allows me to function in Your will. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.
