Intentional Praise
To the King of ages, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen. I Timothy 1:17
I recently read a story of where someone set an alarm every afternoon in order to be intentional on taking a praise break. This is a unique idea, after all we set alarms for everything in our lives why not have one as a reminder to praise ye the Lord. Although we communicate with God throughout the day, I enthusiastically support the idea of this break alarm.
We read about this in the New Testament as well. In today’s verse Paul took a praise break. Breaking from his personal testimony and his explanation of God’s perfect grace, Paul erupts in sudden praise. Knowing God’s work in his life, Paul cannot keep himself from praising God. After all God is worthy.
God is the only God – There are none like Him. Nor are there any who are almost like Him. He far exceeds all that we can understand. He is God alone.
These things alone are reason enough to forever give God honor and glory. But He has given us further cause to praise Him. This transcendent God has chosen to be intimately involved in our lives.
Has God been good to you? Rise up and praise Him now.
Prayer for today: Dear God, You defy my understanding. You are God of the impossible. You are far beyond me. And yet you love me. Occupy my thoughts and so I praise You always. Amen
