In Christ Alone

For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ. 1 Corinthians 3:11

“In Christ Alone” is a modern hymn written by Keith Getty and Stuart Townend that powerfully declares the sufficiency of Christ in our lives. The lyrics, “In Christ alone my hope is found; He is my light, my strength, my song,” emphasize that our hope, strength, and identity are found solely in Jesus. It is often in those moments that we discover the truth of the words, “In Christ alone my hope is found.” The hymn In Christ Alone reminds us that our ultimate hope is not found in circumstances, people, possessions, or even in ourselves. Everything else in our lives can change. People change. Seasons change. Our bodies change. Circumstances change. What we once thought was certain can become uncertain in an instant, but Christ does not change. He remains when everything else feels unstable.

Singing this hymn reminds us of the centrality of Christ in our faith. It encourages us to rely fully on Him, knowing that He is our firm foundation and the source of our salvation. There is something deeply comforting about knowing that our faith does not depend upon our ability to hold everything together. Christ is holding us.

Prayer for today: Lord Jesus, thank You for being our hope and our strength. As we sing “In Christ Alone,” help us to center our lives on You and to find our identity and purpose in Your love. Strengthen our faith and fill us with the assurance of Your presence. In Your name, Amen.
