I Trust In God
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:5-6
Elevation Worship sings, “I trust in God, my Savior, the One who has never failed.” Those words are more than lyrics they are a declaration of faith. I trust in God. To trust God means more than believing that He can guide us. Trust invites us to lean wholeheartedly on Him, even when we don’t understand where He is leading us. It means releasing our need to control the outcome and believing that the One who sees the beginning, the middle, and the end can be trusted with every step in between.
And if we’re honest, that’s not always easy. Often, we want God’s direction while still holding tightly to our own plans. We ask God to lead us, but secretly hope He will lead us in the direction we’ve already chosen. We say, “God, have Your way,” while still trying to have our own way. Yet Proverbs calls us to wholehearted trust, not partial surrender. “Trust in the Lord with all your heart…”
Not some of your heart. Not only when things make sense. Not only when the outcome looks favorable, but all of your heart. When we acknowledge God in all our ways, we invite Him into every area of our lives our decisions, our conversations, our relationships, our finances, our dreams, our disappointments, and even the things we don’t understand. Sometimes trusting God means saying, “Lord, I don’t know where this is going, but I know You.” It means saying, “I don’t understand why this is happening, but I believe You are still good.” It means saying, “I cannot see the way forward, but I trust You to lead me.”
As you begin this day, choose trust over control. Invite God into your plans, your thoughts, your conversations, and your steps. Ask Him not only what to do, but how to walk patiently, humbly, and faithfully. When we entrust our lives to God each morning, we can move through the day with confidence, knowing that we don’t have to figure everything out on our own.
Prayer for today: Lord, I choose to trust You with all my heart today. Help me release control and stop leaning on my own understanding. Teach me to acknowledge You in every area of my life. Order my steps, guide my decisions, and shape my heart to walk in humility and obedience. Thank You for walking with me and for faithfully directing my path. In Jesus’ name, Amen
