Hope in Chaos
The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Psalm 46:7
When the earth shakes, when storms rage, when disasters strike — the natural response is fear. We run for cover. We panic. We brace ourselves for impact. And yet, in the middle of it all, Psalm 46 offers a surprising and powerful call:
Be still.
Know that I am God.
Psalm 46:10, AMP
How can we be still when everything around us feels like it’s falling apart? Because even when the world feels unstable — God is not. Even when our circumstances are chaotic — God is in control.
The Psalmist isn’t asking us to ignore our fear — he’s calling us to lift our eyes higher. Life our eyes to the hills to remember who is with us: “The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge.”
Hope in chaos isn’t wishful thinking — it’s divine perspective. It’s choosing to trust that even when everything we see says, “There’s no way out,” God is already working on our behalf.
He sees. He knows. He is near.
Instead of letting worry take over, we’re invited to lean into His presence —to allow God to display His power and peace in the middle of our storm.
Prayer for today: Lord, when fear creeps in, remind me that You are my refuge. Even when everything around me is uncertain, You are my steady place. Teach me to be still — not because everything is calm, but because I trust the One who holds all things together. You are my peace, my shelter, my strength. Amen.
