Honey in the Rock

But I would feed you with the finest wheat. I would satisfy you with wild honey from the rock. Psalm 81:16

There are seasons in life when we find ourselves wondering, “How is God going to provide here?” We may look at our circumstances and see no obvious answer, no open door, and no clear path forward. Yet Scripture repeatedly reminds us that God is not limited by what we can see. The song “Honey in the Rock” beautifully declares:

“Here’s honey in the rock,

Water in the stone

Manna on the ground

No matter where I go

I don’t need to worry

Now that I know

Everything I need

You’ve got.”

The Israelites understood what it meant to depend completely on God. As they traveled through the wilderness, God went before them with a pillar of cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night. They did not have to know every detail of the journey because God was leading them. Then they came to a place where there was no water. Imagine their fear and uncertainty. They were in the wilderness, and something as basic as water was unavailable. But God had already made a way. He instructed Moses to strike the rock, and water came forth. What an incredible reminder: God can bring provision out of places where we see nothing.

Maybe you are standing in your own “wilderness” today. Perhaps you are facing a situation that seems dry, impossible, or beyond your understanding. You may be asking God, “Where is my provision going to come from?” Remember the Israelites. The same God who provided manna on the ground, water from the rock, and guidance through the wilderness is still God today. Your circumstances do not limit His ability to provide. Keep walking. Keep trusting. Keep looking toward Him.

Prayer for today: Loving Father I put my trust in You. Thank You for being my provider, my guide, and my source of strength. When I find myself in places that feel dry, uncertain, or impossible, help me remember that nothing is impossible for You. Give me the faith to keep walking, even when I cannot see what is ahead. Help me not to worry about tomorrow, but to rest in the assurance that You know exactly what I need. Thank You that wherever I go, You are with me, and everything I truly need is found in You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
