Hold Your Position
I will arise and go to my father. Luke 15:18
Very recently I found myself on a train with my three year old son in hand. During this train ride we did not have a seat but that was not his concern, he leaned (rested) easily onto me because he knew that I was holding onto him. What my son did not realize is that his weight caused me to me tossed to and fro as the train moved and with every toss I had to steady myself so that he would not be shaken. Not matter how much the train jerked, I held my position and because of this my son did not fall. Isn’t this the same with our Heavenly Father?
The journey of life is fraught with unexpected twists and turns, unforeseen obstructions, and a never-ending list of choices. So, just because we are tossed should not mean that our position in Christ is changed. God loves you and will hold onto you even when life is shaking.
When the prodigal son mistakenly took the decision to go his own way, he actually insulted his father in asking for his inheritance prematurely, before his father had died. His father did not argue with him but gave him his due. It wasn’t until his money ran out and he hit rock bottom did he come to his senses. He had left a rich house-hold, with a high standard of living, and traded it to eat the food that the pigs ate. But, whether he was in the rich house or the pig pen, he was still his father’s son.
And the scripture declares ‘when he came to himself’ (in other words, when he came to the realization that he had made the wrong choice), he began the journey of returning to his father.
So today, if you’ve been assailed by the accusations of the enemy because of your past, remember you are positioned IN CHRIST, and no-one can pluck you out of His hand. Your Heavenly Father is waiting with open arms to receive you.
Prayer for today: Loving Father, help me to remember who I am in You and to live as a child of the King. Help me to stand firm in my commitment to Your love, even when life gets a little shaky help me to lean on You. Thank You Father God for being the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. You’re the origin of all things and you’re the only one I can totally trust. Help me not to lean on my own understanding but trust You in all things. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
