Heart of Worship
Come, let us sing to the Lord! Let us shout joyfully to the Rock of our salvation. Psalm 95:1
As a child growing up Saturdays were for cleaning, laundry, and grocery shopping. But the day always started with music. Music is the universal sign that says it’s time to get up and get to work! In the Old Testament, we read that sweet incense was offered every morning and every evening, in the Tabernacle because God loved to meet with His children. So, what does the Bible say about beginning your morning with prayer and with the Lord? Read these verses with me:
Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you. Show me the way I should go, for to you I entrust my life. – Psalm 143:8
The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. – Lamentations 3:22–23
Weeping may last through the night, but joy comes with the morning. – Psalm 30:5
It is good to proclaim your unfailing love in the morning, your faithfulness in the evening. – Psalm 92:2
Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house, and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed. – Mark 1:35
Each morning Jesus wants us to offer up praise and worship from our hearts. Therefore, morning prayers are best. Before your mind gets busy, before your praise turns into complaining, before you get weary with the day’s events offer up the sweet fragrance of praise for simply just being alive another day because that is a blessing.
