Gods Promises
Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord. Psalm 27:14
A homeless man was sitting outside of a fast food place begging for food. Seeing a couple walk in, he asked “Can you buy me some soup? I am hungry.” The line in the food place was very long and so it took longer than usual to come out. Minutes later when they did, the couple handed the man the soup and with excitement he took soup saying these words, “I thought you forgot about me.” To which the couple responded, “No, we kept our promise”.
According to the Merriam Webster dictionary a promise is defined as a ‘declaration or assurance that one will do a particular thing’. Doesn’t this sound like our God? God is faithful, and He knows wants the very best for His children. He wants the very best for His children. During the waiting just hold onto all the good that God has done for us, the prayers He has answered, and know that He will do it again.
This reminds me of a song by Elevation Worship called ‘Do it again’.
Your promise still stands. Great is Your faithfulness, faithfulness. I`m still in Your hands. This is my confidence, You`ve never failed me yet.
I`ve seen You move, You move the mountains And I believe, I`ll see You do it again. You made a way, where there was no way And I believe, I`ll see You do it again.
When it says, You have never failed me yet, the singer is not wondering if God will come through on this thing, he is saying that God has not and will never fail in the future either. Do we have confidence in God that He will not fail to fulfil what He has promised? There is only one promise in the Bible that has not been fulfilled, but the time is not right yet. It is the second coming of the Lord Jesus.
Today, feel encouraged knowing the God that you serve is faithful and will never fail you. Our best is to trust Him at His word, that He is a faithful God.
Prayer for today: Father God I know that You are the same today as You were in bible times and as You will be forever more. Thank You that You are always faithful. Thank You that You are the mountain mover. I give You all the mountains in my life that seem to be insurmountable to me. I leave them in Your care trusting that You know what is the very best for me. Your perfect timing. Amen.
