God’s love and forgiveness
Blessed is the man to whom the Lord does not impute iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no deceit. Psalm 32:2
“Blessed is the one whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered. Blessed is the man against whom the LORD counts no iniquity.” These opening words of Psalm 32 capture a theme central to Scripture: the forgiveness of sins is a supreme blessing of God for his people. The psalmist marveled that God “does not deal with us according to our sins, nor repay us according to our iniquities” (Ps. 103:10). Among the first of the “spiritual blessing[s] in the heavenly places” Paul mentions is “the forgiveness of our trespasses” (Eph. 1:3, 7).
There are consequences to sin, but, thanks be to God for the sacrifice of His Son we can be made right with the Father. These are results of righteousness, restoration. God’s way leads us where we always want to go. The right path is not always smooth and downhill. There are some steep climbs and rough terrain. But the destination is one of great rewards. Through God’s love we will make it through. You have a God that loves you despite your shortcomings. Stick with God and you will not fail.
Prayer for today: Dear Lord, break me, melt me, mold me, fill me. Spirit of the living God fall afresh on me, that I may perfectly love You and worthily magnify Your Holy name. For Jesus’ sake, Amen.
