God Our Savior
With every bone in my body I will praise him: “Lord, who can compare with you? Who else rescues the helpless from the strong? Who else protects the helpless and poor from those who rob them?” Psalm 35:10
Life is a battle. David prays that God would oppose those who oppose against me. He prays, ‘Fight against those who fight against me… arise and come to my aid… Say to me, “I am your salvation”’ (Psalm 35:1-3). Or as The Message puts it, ‘Reassure me; let me hear you say, “I’ll save you.”’ (Psalm 35:3, MSG).
When we are under attack it is easy to feel that it must be your fault. But twice David repeats that their desire to trap him is ‘without cause’ (Psalm 35:7). Sometimes you may face opposition not because you are doing something wrong but because you are doing something right. David prays to God to rescue him: ‘then my soul will rejoice in the Lord and delight in his salvation’ (Psalm 35:9).
During these times I encourage you to hold onto the song written by Ben Fielding and Reuben Morgan that celebrates this salvation. Today let’s use these words as prayer and worship:
Savior,
He can move the mountains,
My God is mighty to save,
He is mighty to save.
Forever,
Author of salvation,
He rose and conquered the grave,
Jesus conquered the grave.
