God our Father
I will be a Father to you and you will be my sons and daughters, “says the Lord Almighty. 2 Corinthians 6:18
I was recently reading a story of a 4th grader and how he handled a situation he was facing at school. The details of the story is not important, but what the final response is. He said, “I’m going to discuss this with my parents.” The inference here is that he was going to share his problem with his parents because, firstly, they would understand and care about his distress and, secondly, he expected them to give him wise advice as to what to do. This young man understood two things, 1- the problem was bigger than him and 2- it could be solved by taking it to his father.
While I was listening to his words, it came to me that this is the kind of relationship our Heavenly Father desires to have with us. It says as much in Scripture: “Come to me all you who are weary and burdened and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28). Proverbs 3:5 says, ‘Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him and he will make your paths straight’.
Whatever you are facing today, like this young man I encourage you to take it to your Heavenly Father. God wants to know your hurts so He can comfort you, and your problems so He can counsel you.
Prayer for today: Father God, thank You for Your continuous protection and care. Please draw me into Your arms. Amen.
