God knows
June 4-5
God knows
You have searched me, Lord, and you know me. You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways. Before a word is on my tongue you, Lord, know it completely. Psalm 139:1-4
Stop and think for a moment, consider the person in the world who knows you best. I bet they know your favorite food. I am sure they could pick up a bouquet of flowers just your style or even put on your favorite music to make you smile. How about your favorite color? I am sure that person knows it too. Well guess, what? God knows you even more than the person who came to mind as you considered those questions. God knows each of us even better than the person who knows us best.
God knows our deep dark secrets and fears. God knows our past — even the ugly parts that we will not share with our best friends. We are God’s children, and God knows us better than our parents or our siblings.
When I’m anxious about my past mistakes, God offers peace. When I’m insecure about who I am, God knows me and loves me just the way I am. When I’m unsure of my next steps in life, God has already filled the path with amazing possibilities. God is our past, present, and future. Our relationship with God is all encompassing and eternal. God knows our thoughts, the words, and actions even before we say them. God grants us peace about our past and offers us hope for the future.
Prayer for today: God, you know every part of me. Thank you for being with me through every step of the journey. Help me to feel your presence today and always. Amen.
