Get Up
But as for you, be strong and courageous, for your work will be rewarded. 2 Chronicles 5:17
During the summer most kids learn to ride a bike. No one learns to ride a bike by themselves. More often than not there is either an older sibling or an adult there to watch you and prevent you from falling. However, as a part of the process of learning to balance on two wheels the spotter must let go and allow you to strengthen your muscles and balance on your own. When you try to balance you will fall. In these moments the rider must ask the question – do I stay knocked down or do I get back up?
There are many times in my life, I feel like a newbie on a bicycle. I must confess there are many times when I have just stayed on the floor, not able to get back up straight away. But then I remember I am surrounded by a great cloud of witnesses who surround me and encouraged me, saying, “Come on you can do it. You will get through with the help of the Lord. Don’t give up.” We can do all things through Christ who strengthens us (Philippians 4:13).
It takes strength and courage to get up and carry on. Sometimes life knocks us down, and it’s hard to push through, but we are all in this together. Where are you today? Are you on the floor and struggling to get up? Come on sister. Come on brother. You can get up. Don’t quit. We are standing with you. The Lord is with you. Get up.
Is there someone in your life who is struggling today? How can you encourage them, and help them?
Prayer for today: Heavenly Father, I thank You that I don’t have to stay on the floor. God, I know that You are Lord over my life. I thank You for your strength to get up. And Lord, I thank You that You are right there with me. Lord, show me how I can encourage someone else today who may be struggling, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
