Full Rest
So there is a special rest still waiting for the people of God. Hebrews 4:9
Sometimes God says ‘go’, sometimes God says ‘grow’ – these words were written by Rick Warren. Sometimes the Lord stops us in our tracks because we’re moving too fast and everything else seems unimportant. But when the Lord steps in, we suddenly remember there’s one thing that’s more important than anything else: the place of full, complete rest.
God’s Sabbath rest is not one of exhaustion, but one of sufficiency. One in which we slow down to remind ourselves of God’s presence in this situation. This isn’t a passive dependency, but an active effort to enter into the rest of the ‘All sufficient One’. An effort to be doing His will, not ours. ‘He is in us to will and to act for His good pleasure’ Philippians 2:13.
Prayer for today: Father, I’m sorry for the times when I’ve operated out of my own strength, without allowing You to work in me and through me. Help me to keep focus on You and not on everything that is happening all around me. I want to enter Your rest. Please help me to do this. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
