Fulfilling your Purpose and Destiny – 2
Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, let us use them….Romans 8:6
Following God in our God given talent can seem radical and risky. Yet we are reminded in God’s Word that He is with us. Psalm 84:11 says ‘For the Lord God is a sun and shield; The Lord will give grace and glory; No good thing will He withhold from those who walk uprightly.’
We can know for years what our true destiny is, we can sense the call, yet we make excuses such as: ‘I don’t have the time. When the kids are grown. When I retire.’ And the list goes on. But God wants you to heed his call now, to show up for duty now.
We are told that God holds nothing back from those who chose to follow Him. This means if we do our part, be sure God will do His part. Trust God and take the first steps. The enemy hates it when we are unconditionally obedient and sacrificial. The enemy makes us think that it’s very scary, but actually it’s the safest thing we can ever do with our lives. That is to jump.
A few years ago I watched a clip online where Steve Harvey was talking about living in a fulfilled way and following your passion. He talked about people being given gifts. But it takes time for us to learn what our gift is. How some people who are succeeding around us have simply learned their gift sooner and are applying it. How we can’t be mad at others because we haven’t learned our own. He talked about finding your gift by taking a leap. But he cautioned though, it would take time and that when you first make that jump, your parachute might not open right away. But, if you want your gift, you’re going to, at some point, have to jump.
Doing that takes confidence. I know. It takes quieting that voice in your head that has allowed you to become complacent. It takes silencing that voice that casts doubt over your plans and trust that God will see you through as you surrender to Him.
If you know God has called you to do something and you haven’t done it, repent and ask God to show you how to get started. Set goals today, devise plans and share ideas of how to make the vision a reality!
Prayer for today: Dear Lord, help me to know Your will for my life and to trust in You as I take a leap of faith. Today, I set my mind to things which are eternal. Amen
