Forever Starts Now
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever. Psalm 23:6
We often think of dwelling in the house of the Lord as a future hope, something we long for after this life. And while it is our eternal promise, it’s also a present reality. Because of Jesus, forever starts now. What we do now, matters for the rest of our lives.
To dwell with the Lord is not about a physical building or location, it’s about being at home in His presence, today and always. It’s living aware of Him in every moment, every decision, every hardship, and every joy. It’s walking through the chaos of life anchored in the unshakable truth that you are not alone.
The mercy of God has two sides: forgiveness for what you’ve done and grace to become who you’re called to be. He not only wipes your slate clean but welcomes you into His family. You don’t just get a second chance, you get a new identity.
David says with confidence, “I shall dwell.” That’s not a maybe or a someday it’s a certainty. Why? Because the Good Shepherd has already made a way. You shall not want. You shall not fear. You shall not be forsaken. And you shall dwell in the house of the Lord, forever.
Prayer for today: Lord, thank You that Your presence is not just a promise for tomorrow it’s a reality for today. Teach me to abide in You no matter what comes. Help me to see that in every moment, I am held, pursued, and welcomed home. I long to dwell with You not just someday, but right now. Amen.
