Fear Creates Strategies, Faith Seeks God, Part II
So the Israelites examined their food, but they did not consult the Lord. Joshua 9:14
In Joshua 2:10, we read, “We have heard how the Lord dried up the water of the Red Sea for you.” Rahab and the Gibeonites heard the same reports about God’s power. Both knew God was moving. Both wanted to survive. Yet their responses were very different.
Rahab threw herself on God’s mercy. The Gibeonites trusted their own strategy.
Faith seeks God. Fear manipulates outcomes.
How often do we create plans because we’re afraid God won’t come through? We try to force doors open, manufacture opportunities, or control outcomes because fear whispers that God cannot be trusted.
When fear drives us, we begin relying on our own wisdom. When faith leads us, we learn to rest in God’s promises.
The question today is simple: Are you trusting God’s mercy or your own strategy?
Prayer for today: Lord, forgive me for the times I have trusted my own strategies more than Your promises. Help me walk by faith and not by fear. Teach me to trust Your timing, Your wisdom, and Your goodness. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
