Enlighten Your Eyes

Enlighten Your Eyes
The law of the Lord is perfect (flawless), restoring and refreshing the soul; the statutes of the Lord are reliable and trustworthy, making wise the simple. The precepts of the Lord are right, bringing joy to the heart; the commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes. Psalm 19:7-8
Psalm 19:7-8, shared with you from the Amplified Version, says the statues (rulings) of the Lord are reliable and trustworthy. It seems that each day we are exposed to shocking statistics and scenes on the TV or internet, worse case scenarios, speculations, and unclear guidelines. No wonder we can become confused, fearful, and anxious! Our spiritual vision can also become blurred. We too can pick up thoughts of worry, fear, or anxiety if we begin to believe the lie which says God is not in control.
There is another verse we can use to ground our faith in – Psalm 119:105 says, ‘Your word is a lamp to my feet, and a light to my path’. We need to focus on our Lord, the God of all faithfulness by digging deep into His word. We need to focus on our Lord, the God of covenant love and faithfulness to His people and dig deep into His Word, because His word is perfect, unchanging, and true. Psalm 19:7-8 also says, His word is pure and untainted by sin. As we meditate on God’s word with a heart to obey all that He tells us, these verses promise that His word will bring inner restoration, refreshment, and joy, and give us wisdom and direction.
What a relief and joy that we can stand firm, solidly anchored in God’s word in this time of uncertainty! Perhaps we need to realign our understanding and vision for the way ahead to ensure we are in line with God’s word. In God’s Word our eyes are open to His hands at work.
Prayer for today: Dear Lord, I want to be firmly anchored in Your word and not tossed around by the uncertainties in my life and the world. Show me your ways, guide me in Your truth and teach me, for my hope is in You all day long. Amen.
