Don’t Walk in Darkness
I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life. John 8:12
In John 8:12, Jesus declares Himself as the light that overcomes the shadows of sin, despair, and fear. This promise is especially powerful in a world that often feels engulfed by uncertainty. Just as light guides us through the night, Jesus lights the path of hope, purpose, and salvation for all who choose to follow Him.
Think about the moments of darkness you may have faced this year—disappointments, losses, or times when hope felt distant. Jesus does not promise the absence of trials, but He promises His presence in the midst of them. His light shines in our hearts, reminding us that we are never alone and that darkness cannot overcome His radiant love (John 1:5).
- Are there areas in your life where you feel surrounded by darkness?
- How can you invite Jesus to shine His light in those places?
- In what ways can you reflect His light to others during this season?
Call to Action 📝
This week, take time to light a candle and reflect on how Jesus brings light into your life. As you do, think of someone who may be walking through darkness, and reach out with words of encouragement, a helping hand, or a prayer. Share the light and hope of Christ this Christmas.
Prayer for today: Lord Jesus, thank You for being the Light of the World and the hope of our hearts. When darkness threatens to overwhelm us, help us to trust in Your guiding presence. Illuminate our path and fill us with the peace and joy that only You can give. May we reflect Your light to a world that desperately needs You. In Your holy name, we pray. Amen.
