Depend on God
I am the vine, and you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will bear much fruit; for you can do nothing without me. John 15:5
I am sure we’ve all heard that old saying, “God helps those who help themselves,”. Sorry to burst your bubble because it is not entirely true. I do not believe this means our God wanted us to be independent and self-reliant. Instead, God wants us to remain connected to Him as we go about our daily lives. We know this because in God’s Word, John 15:5 says, “without Me, you can do nothing”. The truth is we cannot do anything if we are not connected to God. God is pleased when we rely on Him and seek His help. It’s an “I can’t, but God can” lifestyle.
God wants to ease our burdens and struggles. God wants us to be dependent on Him. Depending on God brings peace, joy, and satisfaction. But trying to accomplish things outside of Him makes us weary, frustrated, and discouraged. This is where the enemy likes to keep us. In a place of independence, thinking we don’t need to ask God for help. He knows the more we depend on God, the more productive we will be.
Today resolve to depend on God. As a result, you will discover joy unspeakable.
Prayer for today: Lord, forgive me when I try to do things on my own, remind me to ask for Your help. Thank You for the peace, joy, and success that will be mine as a result! Amen.
