Deep and Deeper
And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. Ephesians 3:18
God loves me and you should know that He loves you too. This I know for the Bible tells me so. What happens when we don’t feel this love? It is true there are times when God seems very far away. We can’t recognize Him with our senses, so we take His word for it. ‘God so loved the world that He gave …’ (John 3:16). Let’s receive God’s love with gratitude. Only then can we rest in it with confidence.
True love demands a response. It causes a reaction, a deep feeling of gratitude within the heart. We can know it and feel it. There’s a stirring of emotions within us generated by the love of another. We respond to this love with gratitude.
In Sunday School we used to sing this hymn:
Jesus loves me, this I know,
for the Bible tells me so.
Little ones to him belong;
they are weak, but he is strong.
Refrain:
Yes, Jesus loves me! Yes, Jesus loves me!
Yes, Jesus loves me! The Bible tells me so.
