Day and Night Protection, Part III
You shall not be afraid of the terror by night, nor of the arrow that flies by day. Psalm 91:5
It’s proven, the more birthdays you have the longer you will live. Now isn’t that a Snapple pop cap of wisdom. Snapple wisdom aside, if you keep on breathing long enough you encounter issues in life that pierce and wound us in ways that others do not see. An arrow is something that pierces or wounds spiritually, physically, mentally or emotionally. Arrows are deliberately sent by the enemy and meticulously aimed at the spot that will cause the most damage. They are targeted toward the area where our mind is not renewed by the Word of God—perhaps an area where we are still losing our temper, or an area in which we are still struggling, or an area where we are still easily offended, or an area of rebellion or fear.
This category indicates that you are in a spiritual battle zone—specific enemy assignments that are directed toward your life to defeat you. The good news is we do not have to heal alone. We should not try to remove these barbs, these “fiery darts,” these “arrows” on our own. We need a surgeon. In Christ we find our great physician.
The healing of the Savior is our cleansing flow. His work on the cross is also efficacious for our healing. When we are hurt in our physical body we see a doctor whose job it is to heal us. Why should the inner workings of our lives be any different? So again, in His shelter and shadow, beneath the shield of Christ, He is making us unafraid even of the unseen injuries. When I am hurting I walk closer to the healer because He heals me.
We have a promise from God telling us not to be afraid of the arrow that flies by day. Assignments will rise up, but don’t be afraid. He has promised to protect us, and He has promised the arrows will not hit their target.
Prayer for today: Heavenly Father, Lord, help me to remember to look to You. Your Word says that by His stripes I am healed. I believe that I am healed. I claim this healing. I believe by faith that You will pick me up out of harm’s way and deliver me from trouble as I put my trust in You. Thank You that I will no longer be afraid as I appropriate Your promises in my life. In the name of Jesus. Amen
