Day and Night Protection, Part II
You shall not be afraid of the terror by night, nor of the arrow that flies by day. Psalm 91:5
In Psalm 23 David expressed trust in the Lord during a challenging time. He wrote: “Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me” (Psalm 23:4). Psalm 91:5–13 points out that those who trust in the Lord have nothing to fear because the Lord watches over them both day and night.
So how do we keep from being afraid? Very simply, get over yourself! If the situation you are facing seems like it’s too much to manage, then maybe it is too much to manage. Fear comes when we think we are responsible for bringing about this protection ourselves. Too often, we think— “Oh, if I can just believe hard enough, maybe I’ll be protected!” OR “Oh, if I were to have a certain status then I’ll take care of it” That’s wrong thinking! The protection is already there and surprise, it has nothing to do with you. It has already been provided, whether we receive it or not.
Faith is simply the choice to receive what Jesus has already done.
Prayer for today: Lord, thank You that I’ll not be afraid of any terror as I choose to abide in the secret place. I put my complete trust in You. Amen
