Consider the Small Things
Who dares despise the day of small things? Zechariah 4:10
As we continue to live through this new normal of life many are discovering what matters most. In this new life of reduced activities that God has shown me the value of these small blessings; increased family time; a beautiful sunrise or sunset; beauty in a small flower, a phone call or a text from someone to say that they are thinking of me; a hug from a family member; the smile from a stranger in the street. I have come to celebrate each one as a gift from God and a sign of His presence with me, especially in the really difficult days.
Today, you too can look back to the earlier days and see how much God has been good to you. God was there keeping you, walking with you along life’s road. I know at times we may not see His hand or even accept that He is there, but God, in His faithfulness, has never left not forsaken you. He sends his comfort in the form of beauty in nature; an unexpected call or visit from a friend, a card in the mail; a small gift; the encouragement and prayers of a friend.
I see now how these small blessings have brought peace to my heart in ways that I didn’t see before. If you are struggling to see God in your life, I invite you to pray this prayer with me today.
Prayer for today: Dear Father God, thank You for the small blessings that You send my way each day. Please forgive me for not taking the time to notice them. I ask that You would give me renewed eyes to see, ears to hear and a heart to accept these small gifts and blessings and see how they bring healing to my wounded places. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
