Cohesive Love
The Lord says, “I will rescue those who love me. I will protect those who trust in my name. Psalm 91:14
Love is the cohesiveness that binds man to God, and God will be faithful to His beloved. Love always requires presence and nearness. Some people acknowledge that there is a God; others know Him. Neither maturity, nor education, nor family heritage, nor even a lifetime as a believer can make a person “know” Him. Only an encounter with the Lord and time spent with Him will cause one to lay hold of the promises in these verses of Psalm 91. For this reason we are encouraged to get to know God for ourselves. He is not only the God of the Bible or the God that your grandmother worshiped, He can be your God once you get to know Him.
Psalm 91:14 further identifies the person who loves God as one who knows the Lord’s name. In other words, he has learned by experience that the Lord is good and perfect in all He is and does. This is a promise for you and me today. The promises and blessings from God, bestowed on the believer who trusts in Him.
Prayer for today: Dear God, thank You for showing me how to love. From this day forth, I intend to be faithful in my walk with You and to set my love upon You. Thank You for Your faithfulness to me. In the name of Jesus. Amen
