Brokenness
While he was still speaking, another also came and said, “Your sons and your daughters were eating and drinking wine in their oldest brother’s house, and behold, a great wind came from across the wilderness and struck the four corners of the house, and it fell on the young people and they died, and I alone have escaped to tell you.” Job 1:18-19
Job chapter 1 records four accounts of bad news coming to Job concomitantly. I can remember thinking to myself, ‘How can this level of brokenness bring glory to God?’ Read it for yourself Job 1:13-20. In the end “Job stood up and tore his robe in grief…” Job 1:20. God allowed him to be broken beyond belief. I’ve wondered if anyone on this earth has ever walked through all he went through. Yet, I love that Job said I love that Job said, “Naked I came from my mother’s womb, And naked I shall return there. The Lord gave and the Lord has taken away. Blessed be the name of the Lord.” When you feel broken beyond repair as a believer, where do you turn? You turn to Him and bless His Name. It’s in these moments to remember that greatness is God’s faithfulness and He is worthy to be praised.
When you find yourself in deep hurt and grief, you just continually bless the Lord at all times. Praise and worship Him for who He is. Ask the Lord to be your help and your strength. He will. Ask Him to redeem and restore the time the locusts have eaten. It may look different from what you think but it can happen. I know it can because I know He (God) is able.
Prayer for today: Dear God, in this world of brokenness I know You are our Healer. Only You can heal and restore the time the locusts have eaten. I trust in You Lord. In Jesus Name. Amen.
