Before You Knew Him
Being confident of this, that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. Philippians 1:6
God is at work in your life, and He always has been. Long before you trusted Christ, God was pursuing you. He was arranging circumstances, placing people in your path, opening your heart to His truth, and patiently drawing you to Himself. Because He loved you, He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to conquer death and offer you the gift of eternal life.
Take sometime today to reflect on your spiritual journey. Write down your testimony. What was your life like before Christ? What did you believe about God? Who first shared the gospel with you? How did God capture your heart and lead you to faith in Jesus?
As you look back, you’ll begin to see God’s fingerprints all over your story. What once seemed like random events were often divine appointments. Your heart cannot help but overflow with gratitude when you realize how faithfully God has been working in your life from the very beginning.
Then turn your gratitude into praise. Write down the ways God has been faithful to you, and ask Him to show you someone who needs to hear your story. Your testimony may be the very encouragement another person needs to discover that God is at work in their life, too.
Prayer for today: Dear Lord, thank You for working in my life long before I recognized Your hand. Thank You for sending Jesus to conquer death and give me eternal life. Open my eyes to see how faithfully You have guided every step of my journey. Fill my heart with gratitude as I remember Your goodness, and give me the courage to share my story so that others may come to know You. Amen.
