Ask for help
Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.” Matthew 11:28-30
Jesus is the One who carries our burdens. We do not have to do any heavy lifting on our own. He sees us. He cares and He comes to our rescue. He wants us to ‘take care of ourselves’ by coming to Him. He wants to look after us and to care for us so that we too are a testimony to His goodness.
Sometimes we need to ask for His help. Sometimes we are too proud to ask when there are willing folk around who would help if asked. When we find that the weight of what we are trying to carry is too much to bear, don’t try carrying it! Seek God and place the situation before Him.
The burdens we carry may not be physical but spiritual or emotional. Jesus gave us the invitation to come to Him to find rest, and to be relieved of our heavy burdens, for His promise is that His burden is light and easy to be borne.
Prayer for today: Lord Jesus, please help me. I am not too proud to ask for help. Help me to recognize that I am not alone in my struggles, but that You are a very present help. Thank You that You see me and will ease my burdens. Thank You that You provide others to help when I need them. Amen.
