Arrows on the floor
Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. Psalm 119:105
Early during the COVID-19 pandemic I went on a trip to the supermarket. I had two things with me, a list and my bags. I was focused and on a mission to go in then get out. In the supermarket there were arrows showing the direction in which way we should walk. So that it not only enabled the social distancing, but also protected people from walking into each other.
At first, I did not see see the arrows because my focus was on my list and the shelves. That was until I got the ugly stare from others shopping as I weaved into lanes using the wrong entrance.
At this time, I sensed in my spirit that this is what we do with our lives. The Lord has a direction for our life and a good way that I should walk in. If I am alert to what is around me and am not distracted, I will be aware of the good way where I will find rest for my soul. If I am not aware then I will walk into places that I should not. As God’s purpose is always for good, He can use mistakes to show us a better way, not to condemn us.
Thankfully we are not left to navigate this alone. The Holy Spirit is gracious and will gently point out when we are going in the opposite direction. He used people for us that day to point out we were walking in the opposite way of the arrows on the path.
