Answer the Call

Now the Angel of the Lord came and sat under the terebinth tree…and the Angel of the Lord appeared to him, and said to him, “The Lord is with you, you mighty man of valor!” Judges 6:11-12

Gideon was busy threshing wheat while hiding from the Midianites, an invading enemy which impoverished the nation of Israel at that time. Suddenly, on what seemed to be a very ordinary day, devoid of hope, he had an encounter with an angel who addressed him as a mighty man of valor. Imagine with me the excitement which overcame Gideon to be called a ‘mighty man’ while he was in hiding.

This should give you hope today. There is a time and a place for you too to be lifted out of your slumber through the providence of God. No matter what generation we’re born in, or how many millions of people there are on the planet, I believe God has arranged a divine appointment for each one of us in a way that is perfect for each individual.

God has not forgotten you. He has seen your sacrifice, your faith, He knows of your obedience, witness your commitment to the call of God. He knows the price you paid, the tears you’ve cried, the loneliness you’ve endured and now invites you into His loving arms to accept His peace.

While each one of us has to pass through the threshing floor of life’s circumstances, where God separates the wheat from the chaff of our daily lives, we are each born with a God-given destiny that finds its fulfillment in Christ. He knows exactly where we’re at. At the appropriate time, God knows precisely how to use His word to reach us.

If we rely on God’s Spirit, then we can take on the challenges of life and be victorious.
