Amazing Truth    

He (Jesus) is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of His nature, and He upholds the universe by the word of His power. Hebrews 1:3

In today’s verse, some translations use ‘all things’ or ‘everything’ instead of the word ‘universe’, as the ESV does, but it was the ESV rendering that I’d like to focus on. I’ve been thinking of that old song, often reserved for Sunday School children, ‘He’s got the whole world in His hands’. The verses become progressively more personal, eventually addressing you and me with, ‘He’s got you and me, brother, in His hands, He’s got you and me, sister, in His hands’.

This verse is telling us that the vast universe which we live in, and everything in it, is literally held together by the authority and powerful word of Jesus, the Son of God.

So when it feels like your life is spiraling out of control, just hold onto these words and remember that God has you covered in His hands.

Prayer for today: Dear Lord Jesus, when life seems out of my control, please help me to remember that it’s never out of Yours. Amen.
