A Still Small Voice
Then Eli realized it was the Lord who was calling the boy. So he said to Samuel, “Go and lie down again, and if someone calls again, say, ‘Speak, Lord, your servant is listening.’” So Samuel went back to bed. 1 Samuel 3:8-9
As I step into a new week following fasting of repentance, I know there are some things the Lord desires of me. He calls, whispers, shouts or sings through the noise of my busyness, the quietness of the night, in my pains, troubles or distress, or in the excitement of something new. Like Samuel, if I still my mind, I can find Him calling my name. I hear that still, small voice, and in His kindness, His Spirit is moving, drawing me into His way. Like Samuel, I will be still and say ‘Speak Lord, your servant is listening.’”
Sometimes I try and make my own plans, not remembering that the Lord has the perfect plan for my life. When God speaks to us His words bring great peace, and we can know that, if we follow Him, we’re placing our future in His hands.
Prayer for today: Speak Lord, for I’m listening. Amen!
