A Refreshed Perspective
The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. Psalm 23:1
As I reflect on Psalm 23, I’m deeply encouraged. I pray that as you read these words today, they will be a source of blessing and strength for you throughout as you grow in your walk with God.
The Lord – Yahweh. The “I Am.” The Eternal One. He is the God who was, who is, and who is to come. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever.
Is – Not a distant future promise. Not a long-gone past. He is right now. Present and active, in every moment, and in every season of our lives.
My – Not just the God of Abraham, Moses, or the saints of old. Not just the pastor’s God. Not just the God of my family or friends. He is my God intimately knowing me, carefully watching over me, and loving me fully.
Shepherd – The One who tends, keeps, guides, protects, and cares for His sheep. The Good Shepherd. The Great Shepherd. The Chief Shepherd. The Perfect Father. He leads me, feeds me, and carries me. He is my protector, my guide, and the giver of life, always holding me close.
I – I am His beloved. I am His child. I am the apple of His eye. I belong to Him. He calls me by name, and I am forever held in His loving hands.
Shall Not – Never. Not once. No matter the circumstance, the trial, or the season. I can stand firm in the absolute certainty that He will never fail me. His “Yes” is unshakable.
Want – He is my supply. He is my provider. In Him, I lack nothing. I will not be left wanting, for He is my provider, my protector, and my source of every good thing. I am blessed in Him, and He will never let me come up empty. I shall never want, for in Him I find everything I need.
Prayer for today: Lord, You are my all-in-all. You provide for my every need, and because of that, I lack nothing. I have nothing to fear, for I am in Your care. Thank You for Your constant provision and for being my Shepherd. I trust You completely. Amen.
