A New Heart: Peace
And I will give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit in you. I will take out your stony, stubborn heart and give you a tender, responsive heart. Ezekiel 36:26
When God gives us a heart of flesh, He is not only transforming our outward actions but also changing our inward nature. A heart of stone is hardened, indifferent, and often filled with fear and anger, but a heart of flesh is tender, compassionate, and open to the feelings of others.
When God transforms our hearts, He is not just changing our behavior; He is changing the very core of who we are. A heart of stone is unyielding, defensive, and distant, but a heart of flesh is gentle, vulnerable, and in tune with God’s will.
This shift within us opens the door for peace. As we experience God’s compassion and love, we find that our hearts are no longer filled with turmoil and fear, but with His peace that surpasses all understanding. This peace is not just for us to enjoy; it flows out of us to others, creating an environment where peace can flourish.
This transformation allows us to feel as God feels. A heart of flesh is one that is tender and responsive to God’s promptings. It’s a heart that can feel the pain of others and respond with kindness, grace, and compassion. We begin to see others through His eyes and experience a deep compassion that leads to peace in our lives. Peace isn’t just the absence of conflict—it’s the presence of God’s love and understanding within us. When we embrace this new heart, we no longer react out of fear or frustration, but from a place of compassion, which brings lasting peace.
Prayer for today: Thank you, Lord, that You have done as You promised and caused us to walk in Your statutes and do them. We thank you in advance for the victory You extend to us this day.
