A Heart of Unwavering Praise
Let all that I am praise the LORD; with my whole heart, I will praise His holy name. Let all that I am praise the LORD; may I never forget the good things He does for me. Psalm 103:1-2
In Psalms 103, verses 1 and 2 contains a prayer of pure, unadulterated praise to God—a prayer with no plea, no request, no petition, just overwhelming gratitude. In this passage all we see is a command, and the command is to praise the Lord! David, deeply moved by God’s blessings, cannot help but pour out his praise.
While we don’t know the exact circumstances surrounding the writing of this Psalm, we can easily imagine that, in reflecting on his life, David began counting his blessings rather than focusing on his burdens. In that moment, it became clear to him just how much God had done, how good God had been, and how undeserving he was of such grace. From the deepest corners of his heart, praise erupted as he acknowledged God’s goodness.
Let this truth encourage you today: no matter what you’re facing, God is worthy of your praise. As you sing your song of gratitude, let it be in spite of any difficulty, challenge, or hardship. Just like David, may we always remember how good God has been to us, and may our hearts overflow with unceasing praise.
Prayer for today: Heavenly Father, I repeat the words of the Psalmist instructing all that I am to praise Your name. Let all that I am praise the LORD; with my whole heart, I will praise His holy name. Let all that I am praise the LORD; may I never forget the good things He does for me. Psalm 103:1-2. Amen.
