A Great Calm
You Jesus stood up and commanded the wind, ‘Be quiet!’ and he said to the waves, ‘Be Still!’ And there was a great calm. Mark 4:39
Mark 4:39 records the results of Jesus’s command to the waves ‘Be still’ he says and with that there was a great calm. One man spoke and the winds listened, how can this be? They had heard Him teach the crowds with great authority and seen Him heal many sick people – but this was different! This time He spoke and it was. This act stunned the disciples. In this moment they truly realized Jesus was no ordinary man, He was God himself and He was sitting on a boat with them.
The same is for me as it is for you today, in the sometimes-turbulent waters of life how wonderful it is to know the abiding presence of the Lord Jesus Christ in our boat. He has a way of surprising us beyond our expectations, and of revealing a facet of His character to us, at any given point in our experience.
Feel His presence today with a reassurance and comfort knowing that we belong to God and that God is with us.
Prayer for today: Loving Father, thank You thank You for being in the boat of our particularly in times of need. Amen.
