A Friend
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition… present your requests to God. Philippians 4:6
There’s an old hymn, What a Friend We Have in Jesus, that reminds us of a simple but powerful truth: “What a privilege to carry everything to God in prayer.” And yet, how often do we forget?
We carry stress, replay conversations, and wrestle with worries when all along, we have an open invitation to bring it all to God. Prayer is not just a spiritual habit; it’s a relationship. It’s a conversation with a faithful Friend who listens, understands, and cares deeply.
When we truly “take it to the Lord in prayer,” something shifts. The problem may still be there, but the weight of it begins to lift. Anxiety loosens its grip, and peace quietly takes its place.
What a gift it is to not have to hold everything inside. What a comfort to know we are never unheard.
So whatever is on your heart today, big or small, take it to Him. You don’t have to carry it alone.
Prayer for today: Lord, thank You for being a faithful Friend. Remind me to bring everything to You in prayer instead of carrying it on my own. Help me trust You with every concern and rest in the peace You provide. Amen.
