A Faithful God

A Faithful God
He remembers His covenant forever, the word which He commanded, for a thousand generations. Psalm 105:8
Finally we come to the crux of the Psalm 105 for this week. Here we understand the Lord our God never changes. He is a covenant keeping God and with that we are safe in His hands. Psalm 105:8 are words that we should not take lightly. They tell us that God made a promise, and that he’s sticking to it. He is sticking to it for a thousand generations. In other words, forever. You say, “What promise did He make?” Verses 9-11:
“The covenant which He made with Abraham,
And His oath to Isaac,
And confirmed it to Jacob for a statute,
To Israel as an everlasting covenant,
Saying, “To you I will give the land of Canaan
As the allotment of your inheritance,”
God made a promise to give Abraham a land, make him father too many nations and He kept that promise. Israel became a great nation. Israel was given the land. And now are called to remember that God is faithful. He is a covenant keeping God who never forgets or goes back on His promises.
There are numerous promises in the Bible that are true for every believer. These promises become ours the moment we come to the cross, repenting of our sin and entering into the covenant that God has made with us through the blood of His Son. That covenant is unbreakable and God will always be true to His promises within it.
In addition, He is a Father who deals individually with His children, and He has a plan and a purpose for each of our lives. He will never break His promises to us, and each one will be fulfilled, just as is written in today’s verse about the promises He made to the people of Israel in Psalm 105.
Are there any promises that have yet to be fulfilled in your life? Don’t forget about them – God hasn’t! Show Him that you are in faith for their fulfilment and pray them in.
Prayer for today: Dear Lord, I praise You for your faithfulness. You never break Your promises to me and Your timing is always perfect. I trust You Lord, help my unbelief. Amen.
