A Covenant Promise

A Covenant Promise
Is anything too hard for the LORD? I will return about this time next year, and Sarah will have a son.” Genesis 18:14
The covenant between Abraham and God consisted of three separate parts: the promised land. the promise of the descendants. the promise of blessing and redemption. Notice of all that is mentioned in the above sentence there is no mention of time. So, what happens in the minutes, hours, days, and months after the promise from God? You wait, worship and lookup. Waiting on God is not an easy task, but it is essential to God’s ultimate plan for your life. In this word of the Lord to Abraham we are reminded not only that “with God all things are possible” but also that God has his appointed time for the fulfillment of his purposes.
From reading the story of Abraham and Sarah we know many days elapsed between God’s promise to Abraham for a son. But the day came when Sarah declared, “God has brought me laughter, and everyone who hears about this will laugh with me” (Gen. 21:6). And that was God’s appointed time.
Continue to be encouraged and continue to praise God as you live knowing that at God’s appointed time He will make crooked paths straight. God’s appointed time, there is great comfort and strength when we hold onto that phrase. It calls us to wait upon the Lord, to give God time. For God is not in a hurry and when he comes through there is no mistake in His works.
