A Better Place to Release It
Pour out your hearts to Him, for God is our refuge. Psalm 62:8
There’s a place people go when frustration builds to the breaking point, a Rage Room. A space where glass is shattered, old TV screens are smashed, and doors are kicked down without consequence. For a moment, it feels like a release. In fact, I think I’d like to visit one day because this does seem like fun. Like all the pent-up anger has somewhere to go, plus you get a good workout. It’s like killing two birds with one stone, but when you really think about it… it seems like a bit much, doesn’t it? Not because the emotions aren’t real, they are. Frustration, anger, hurt, and overwhelm all demand to be expressed. The question is not if we release them, but where. Song writer says, “take it to the Lord in prayer.”
God offers us a different place. A better place. Instead of breaking objects, He invites us to pour out our hearts. Every sharp emotion, every unfiltered thought, every moment of anger, we can bring it all to Him. He isn’t intimidated by our honesty. He isn’t put off by our intensity. In fact, He welcomes it. Prayer becomes the space where nothing has to be held back, but everything can be surrendered.
What we might try to release through destruction, God transforms through connection. In His presence, anger can turn into clarity, frustration into peace, and heaviness into rest.
So yes, the idea of smashing glass to feel better might sound appealing for a moment, but there is a deeper, lasting release available to us. Take it to God. He can handle it. And He will meet you there not with judgment, but with refuge.
Prayer for today: Heavenly Father, You see every emotion I carry, even the ones I don’t fully understand. Help me bring my frustration and anger to You instead of holding it in or releasing it in the wrong ways. Teach me to pour out my heart before You and trust that You are my refuge and peace. Amen.
