Return of Sound
Make a joyful shout to the Lord, all you lands! Psalm 100:1
Early April the New York Post reported, the Mickey Mice, Batman, other buskers, including the accept-no-substitutes Naked Cowboy, were back at Times Square. In brief this article focused on the return of crowds at New York Times Square and a return to life. It’s a joy because it means the Crossroads of the World has returned to life. With everything that we’ve been through this past year it is nice to hear that the sound of joy has returned. While I am grateful the sound of joy has returned to New York Times Square, I am even more thankful to know that the sound of joy never left the heart of the believer. Even in the midnight hour we know that God is good and worthy to be praised.
“The Lord is good.” It’s easy to say that, but do you really believe it? Some of you have gone through very difficult trials. You may be in difficult trials right now. And still you have a shout of praise because you know God to be good.
Psalms 100 talks about making a joyful noise and today I ask the question, what is a joyful noise? Is it the sound that’s returned to New York Times Square? This joy, can it only be found in a particular location? Or is there a deeper meaning which we can hold onto?
Joy is much deeper and more long-range. Joy appreciates the past, accepts the presents and looks forward to the future. Not because circumstances are what they are, but because we know ‘Who’ holds tomorrow. Knowing the Lord Jesus Christ as our Savior fills us with joy.
So how should we respond when life is rough? With joy. For we know that God is truly God and we are His people, the sheep of His pasture.
Be encouraged this morning and sing the song of joy. Walk throughout your day with praise in your heart. For we recognize that God is good, far better to us than we deserve. He is faithful and because of this we shout for joy!
