Shackles Are Gone
For in my inner being I delight in God’s law; but I see another law work in me, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within me. Romans 7:22-23
Once you accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, then you are free from the burden of sin. This does not mean however, you will no longer sin. It means the burden of sin, the repetitive nature of it no longer holds you down. The believer is free from guilt and shame. Yes there are times you will face all kinds of pressure. You will be criticized. You will be spoken of negatively. You will have some very dark and gloomy days. There will be days when you find yourself thinking of the past life because in that life you would have known how to handle such a situation. As a result, there will be times when you will want to go back to the life style you lived before Christ set you free. But I want to offer you some help today. I want to remind you that you are holding the key to your promise land. And if you are ever going to get there, then you have to continue to unlock the doors heading in that direction. Encourage yourself in God’s Word and allow His truth to keep you free.
You’ve been given the key to salvation. How that key will work depends on its usage. Until you are willing to listen to the truth, you will be a slave to the lies that you believe. At some point in your life, you gave into believing in something because you so desperately wanted it and as a result you’ve been enslaved to that thing ever since. Day in and day out you willing put on chains without even thinking about it, because you don’t even realize the prison that you’re in, and after all you are holding the key.
In order to embrace freedom, you have to honestly look at yourself through the Word of God and find out where you are. So if there is something in your life that enslaves you and you want freedom, read the Word and find out where your mind is in disagreement with God. Freedom requires truth, and then the truth shall set you free. It is up to you and me to use the power that has been given unto us.
Prayer for today: Father, this morning we ask that You share with us Your lens. Help us to see that we are more than what meets the eye. The enemy wants to keep us in bondage of sin, but Savior we know that You’ve already paid the price. Lord, I surrender to You all my feelings of inadequacy and of not feeling enough. I lean into You, Father, and ask that You give me the strength to keep using the key of freedom and through me to bring glory to Your name. Amen.
