The Same Power

The Same Power
This is the same mighty power that raised Christ from the dead and seated him in the place of honor at God’s right hand in the heavenly realms. Ephesians 1:19, 20
We too have been raised with Him from our old life of sin to live in the power of His resurrection. Isn’t it amazing that the same power that raised Jesus from the dead is the power of the Holy Spirit, which is given to every believer. It’s victorious power, because Jesus has won total victory over sin, death and all the powers of darkness. The truth is that, however we feel, we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us, died for our sins and was raised to life for our justification (Romans 4:25). The cross made it possible to have life, and to live a life of freedom from sin and bondage.
The point I want to get to is this: This same power that raised Christ’s dead, beaten and battered body to life – the One who is God’s very breath in our lungs – is alive in us. We have access to the death-defying power of the Holy Spirit because of Jesus’ death and resurrection.
The lyrics to Jeremy Camp – Same Power says
The same power that rose Jesus from the grave
The same power that commands the dead to wake
Lives in us, lives in us
The same power that moves mountains when He speaks
The same power that can calm a raging sea
Lives in us, lives in us
He lives in us, lives in us
With the news of Jesus resurrection we see this is a time for rejoicing, regardless of our circumstances. Because Jesus died and rose again we have forgiveness of sins, and divine power to overcome sin, enabling us to live lives worthy of the Lord. Let’s ask for the desire to know Christ more, and for the power of His resurrection.
Prayer for today: Father, thank You for the plan of salvation which gives new life. Thank You for the death and resurrection of Jesus. Thank You for saving me, and for giving to me Your Holy Spirit. Amen.
