Repositioned
And the Lord said to him, ‘But I will be with you, and you shall strike the Midianites as one man. Judges 6:16
The story of God meeting with Gideon ignites a fire of faith and fear within me when it comes to being used by God. Gideon was called out of a place of hiding and fear to lead God’s people to gain a miraculous victory over their oppressive enemy, against huge odds (Judges 6:1-7:25). Gideon exemplifies the truth that God anoints all He appoints. We need not fear the repositioning when it comes to God. He will perfectly equip and empower you to accomplish whatever task he has set before you.
Gideon was repositioned by God. In Judges 6, an angel of the Lord approaches Gideon, who at the time was beating out wheat in a winepress to hide it from the oppressive Midianites. Scripture says, “And the angel of the Lord appeared to him and said to him, ‘The Lord is with you, O mighty man of valor’” (Judges 6:12).
Gideon could have chosen to remain in the safety of the winepress, where he was trying to secure his crops from the enemy’s raiding parties. Yet we know that he did not. In response to God’s faithfulness to meet with him, Gideon obeyed the Lord and confidently went into battle with three hundred men. Judges 7:22-23 tells us, “When the 300 Israelites blew their rams’ horns, the Lord caused the warriors in the camp to fight against each other with their swords. Those who were not killed fled to places as far away as Beth-shittah near Zererah and to the border of Abel-meholah near Tabbath. Then Gideon sent for the warriors of Naphtali, Asher, and Manasseh, who joined in chasing the army of Midian.”
Through this reposition Gideon powerfully defeated an oppressive army vastly outnumbering his own because of the power of God working through him. Receive the strength of the Lord today.
