Repositioning
Behold, I will do a new thing…I will even make a road in the wilderness. Isaiah 43:19
Previously we mentioned the dictionary defines ‘reposition’ as a change of position or direction. To reposition is to move, shift, dislodge, re-locate or transfer. Notice there is nothing in that definition that says it is dislodged from bad to good or it is relocated from the good to the bad. No! It only defines the word as a shifting. Now consider the life of Joseph. At the moment Joseph did not understand the repositioning, but looked back he could see how God was repositioning him for something greater.
Joseph was his father Jacob’s favorite son, causing his older brothers to be intensely jealous of him. When the opportunity presented itself, he was sold by his brothers into slavery, taken to Egypt, and eventually thrown into jail, as he refused to compromise his purity. Only much later was he promoted to a place of authority as the second in charge to Pharaoh (read the entire account in Genesis 37-50). This reposition caused Joseph to go from being the favorite, to being sold, then to the pit and finally winding up in the palace.
I am certain if Joseph had a choice he would not have chosen this path for himself. Joseph could have become bitter and vengeful because of the injustice done to him. This did not happen. As we read the account we know Joseph went with the new thing which led him into an even bigger opportunity to be used by God.
Today, you may not know what the future holds, but we do know who holds tomorrow. We are in a season where we are physically down but God is able to guide us nonetheless. He is The One who remains the same yesterday, today and forever more. Continue to hold on…..
